Residents of the Oaks at Timberlake received approval by the City Council last week to extend their cart path outside the city limits to better connect themselves with the rest of their development. The Oaks subdivision is in Peachtree City, but the rest of Timberlake, including the development's amenity center, is not. Residents of the Oaks must cross Peachtree Parkway to get there, which means either a short ride in an automobile or a tricky pedestrian crossing of that busy road. Extension of the cart path will give many other Timberlake residents a connection to the city's path system while giving families in the Oaks a safer route to the Timberlake amenity center, city staff said. Costs for the project will be borne by the developer, Pathway Communities, and the Timberlake Homeowners Association. It will have to meet all existing city standards for its cart path system.
