A
woman sitting in the county jail after an alleged
murder-for-hire scheme should know by Jan. 25 if
she will be indicted for attempted murder.
The
Courtney Jacob case is one of several to be
considered by the Fayette County grand jury when
that body convenes for a one-day session.
Authorities
expect between 30 and 50 cases to be heard by the
grand jury during this session.
According
to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Jacob, a
Coweta County riding instructor also known by her
married name of Courtney Kimbrough, gave an
undercover agent a $500 down payment to kill her
husband, with $20,000 more promised after his
death and insurance settlement.
She
was arrested Nov. 22 in a restaurant in Peachtree
City after money was exchanged.
She
and her husband, Robert Kimbrough, had been
married only three months at the time of the
arrest.
After
being denied bond, she waived her preliminary
hearing in Magistrate Court and the case was sent
straight to the grand jury.
This
session, in addition to the Jacob case, is also
conspicuous by what will not be heard. Isaac
Pearson's case will not be ready by that date, a
spokesperson for the district attorney's office
said.
Pearson's
next hearing is set for Wednesday, Jan. 26, in
Magistrate Court. He was arrested Dec. 28 after
his girlfriend and three of her female relatives
were found shot to death in his home just outside
Fayetteville.
