For the second consecutive year, Tim Jones Communities Inc. of Jonesboro was the recipient of a top award at the annual Professionalism Awards Banquet.

The 1999 black-tie awards dinner and program, held Saturday night, Nov. 13, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, was presented by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council to recognize the most outstanding professionals in Atlanta's home building industry.

The program gives members of its 3,870-member association the opportunity to compete with their industry professionals in building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement areas.

This year, 36 industry professionals traveled to Atlanta from across the United States during August to judge the 664 entries.

This year, Tim Jones Communities received a Gold Award, a four-sided crystal obelisk, as the top winner in the category for Single Family Detached Homes in the $99,999 and under price range (companies building 100 plus homes a year). The winning home is located in WildWind in Stockbridge, which offers homes priced from the $80,000s. The community has been described as the “hottest-selling community in the Metro South area for the past two years”.

Last year, Tim Jones Communities received a Gold Award as the top winner for value and design in the category for Single Family Detached Homes ($100,000 to $129,999 price range). Tim Jones Communities is a 20-year-old firm which is currently the leading builder in the Clayton/Henry area of Metro South.

The company builds approximately 240 new homes a year. The owner and president is Tim Jones, who resides in the Lake Spivey area of Clayton County. Jones has been involved in building since he was 19 years old and was the 1998-'99 president of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association as well as being a past president of the Metro South Home Builders Association.

Three years ago, he and his company were recognized with the prestigious Diamond Builder award from 2/10 Home Buyers Warranty (HBW), the nation's leading 10-year home buyer's warranty program. The award represents HBW's highest honor and is bestowed upon builders who have a proven track record for superior construction standards, design quality, and outstanding customer service.
