A couple of Fayette residents rang in the new year with a different sort of fireworks and found themselves under arrest within the first hour of 2000.

According to police reports, officers responded to 242 Smokerise Trace in Peachtree City at 24 minutes after midnight Jan. 1.

Two people were found discharging firearms, which is a code violation within the city limits, and subsequently arrested.

Michael Todd Peter, 22, of Fayetteville is charged with disorderly conduct, interference with official duties of an officer, and discharge of a firearm in the city limits.

Joshua Alan Booth, 22, of Fayetteville faces only the firearm charge, according to the report.

Police said Wednesday that the case is still under investigation.

Other recent arrests by the Peachtree City Police Department include the following:

Joseph B. Britton, 17, of Peachtree City Saturday for driving under the influence.

Johnathan W. Longman, 17, of Peachtree City Saturday for driving under the influence and minor in possession.

Ronnie E. Shirley, 48, of Peachtree City Saturday for driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.

Brandon C. Stokes, 18, of Senoia Saturday for minor in possession of alcohol and disorderly conduct.

Michael W. Liu, 19, of Peachtree City Saturday for reckless driving.

Sonia J. Allen, 38, of Peachtree City Dec. 31 for no insurance and defective equipment.

Mathew W. Tuttle, 17, of Senoia Dec. 30 for theft.

Ryan M. Thomas, 21, of Peachtree City Dec. 30 on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear out of Fayette County.

Corey J. Gaissert, 22, of Fayetteville Dec. 30 for violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act (possession of marijuana — less than one ounce).

Javier L. Laguna-Ponce, 20, of Puerto Rico Dec. 30 for driving under the influence, minor in possession of alcohol and failure to maintain lane.

Robert J. Defransisco, 18, of Peachtree City Dec. 29 for being in the park after hours.

Scott M. Allen, 19, of Maryville, Tenn. Dec. 29 for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana (less than one ounce) and being in the park after hours.

John M. Emery, 53, of Peachtree City Dec. 28 for driving on a suspended license, no insurance and expired tag.

Jennifer L. Stein, 23, of Peachtree City Dec. 27 for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana (less than one ounce) and no insurance.

Jason Brazier, 24, of Carrollton Dec. 27 for theft by shoplifting.

Kenneth Cook, 36, of Griffin Dec. 27 for driving on a revoked license.

Tommy B. Smith, 32, of Senoia Dec. 27 on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear out of Fayette County.

Police are also investigating the following incidents:

Criminal trespass — unknown person or persons threw a rock that struck a vehicle at Golf View and Parkgate.

Theft – unknown person or persons removed jewelry from a residence on Sherrells Ford.
