Fayette firm fined
$10,000 for pollution violations Georgia's
Environmental Protection Division has issued an
order fining Marnelle Mobile Home Park in
Fayetteville $10,000 for water pollution
violations.
Public
comment on the order will be accepted through
Jan. 19.
According
to EPD northwest region manager Kappitola
Williams, the neighborhood's water pollution
control plant violated discharge limits for pH,
as well as suspended solids and fecal coliform at
least three times within 12 months to bring on
the heavier than usual fine.
Such
facilities are tested monthly, and are fined $250
for exceeding the limits once, she said. After
three violations, the fine jumps to $10,000 and
the company is required to hire an environmental
engineer to audit the plant and submit a schedule
of corrective actions.
Discharge
from the plant is tested weekly during the
correction period, and any violation during that
period brings an additional $500 fine, said
Williams.

Protection Division, 4244 international Parkway,
